Optical Mark Reader (OMR Scanner) is a high-tech data input device for capturing data from paper with accuracy and speed.
A special paper is printed with sensors to define the data position. Data position means bubbles with multiple choice for the applicants to fill.
The purpose of such data capture is mainly to process results from the Answer sheets for objective type examination. These scanners capture data very fast using from the pen / pencil filled OMR sheets into a database. Scanner is attatched to a PC via a USB 2.0 or COM port and can be easily operated.
The OMR sheet is printed by many specialised printing presses in India and available at very competitive prices. An illustration is given below for a typical OMR processing. Scanning of OMR sheets to database, processing of results and printing.
